Editor, publisher. Creative consultant. Obsessive re-reader. Book whisperer.
About Me:
I’ve worked in the literary field for fifteen years, including nine years as an editor at Copper Canyon Press, an independent book publisher dedicated to poetry. I have acquired bestselling books, worked with award-winning poets, written and edited book marketing and fundraising materials, and curated and produced literary events. I have edited fiction, memoir, and poetry. I am most passionate about antiracist nonprofit leadership, literature as a site for community-building, and the joy of developmental book editing.
I’m the author of the poetry collection Write About An Empty Birdcage, and have earned fellowships and awards from Jack Straw, Vermont Studio Center, Lambda Literary, Mineral School, Artist Trust, 4Culture, and Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. For several years I ran a small business dedicated to producing poetry events and cross-disciplinary creative collaborations.
Based in Bellingham, Washington, I currently serve as an editor to clients in Tokyo, New Orleans, Seattle, Manhattan, Portland, and the Bay Area.
About You:
You have completed a draft of your novel, poetry book, or short story collection.
You believe in the work, but have hit a wall. You’re too close to the manuscript. You care too much. Or you don’t care anymore. You’re not sure whether to throw the book away or call it finished. You are in search of an experienced editor, a caring reader who will:
Get to know your book inside and out,
Provide fresh perspective,
Offer developmental feedback and line-level edits,
Inspire you to return to your own creative process.
